On January 15, 2022, thirty-eight Sandburg students competed against students from 46 high schools in the West Suburban Chicago Regional Scholastic Arts Awards and Exhibition at Downers Grove North High School, Downers Grove, Illinois. Our students entered 75 individual works (drawings, photography, digital images, and paintings) and 2 portfolios for the regional competition, which adjudicated nearly 79 portfolios and 2165 individual works.
Seventeen of our students won big, taking home a truckload of awards. Liv Achterhof, Tina Alkayed, Sofia Carrillo, Mathylda Dulian, Hedaya Hassanein, Tung Le, Eman Qasmieh, and Farah Shuaibi won Gold Keys. Liv Achterhof, Sofia Carrillo, Josie Leafblad, Zoe Martinand, Kierstin Pendleton, and Yasin Thkra took home Silver Keys. And finally, Aya Abdelghani, Cam Amado, Allie Bragassi, Abbi Maloney, Zoe Martinand, Kayla Pelini, and Kierstin Pendleton gained Honorable Mentions.
The Gold Key works will now travel to New York City to compete nationally against all other Gold Key winners from throughout the United States.
The Regional exhibition will run from January 30 - February 4, 2022.
